UNIVERSITY OF LIMPOPO SECURITY OFFICER MURDER CASE POSTPONED AS ACCUSED REMAINS IN CUSTODY

The man accused of killing a University of Limpopo security officer appeared in court today, but made no attempt to apply for bail.

Thomas Samuel Mahlo (44) is accused of the alleged murder of Christina Nyalungu (37), a security officer at the University of Limpopo.

Mahlo was arrested following the fatal assault of Nyalungu at her workplace on the university campus on Saturday night, 12 September 2026.

During his court appearance, Mahlo did not indicate any intention to seek bail. The case was postponed to 13 November 2026, and he remains in custody.

The circumstances surrounding Nyalungu’s death remain before the court as the investigation and legal proceedings continue.

The accused remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
