JOINT ROADBLOCK RECOVERS OVER R39,000 IN UNPAID TRAFFIC FINES ON N4

A joint roadblock on the N4 Toll Road near Karino Kia Ora on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, resulted in 56 traffic summonses being issued and more than R39,000 in outstanding fines being recovered.
The operation, conducted as part of October Transport Month, was led by the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison in collaboration with SAPS, the Transport Inspectorate and the City of Mbombela’s Traffic Law Enforcement unit.
More than 220 vehicles were stopped and inspected, with motorists facing enforcement action for various traffic violations.
The operation also saw the deployment of the Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) bus, popularly known as Nyamsoro, which helped identify motorists with outstanding traffic fines and facilitated the collection of more than R39,000 on-site.

The multidisciplinary operation forms part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety, promote compliance with traffic laws and hold motorists accountable for violations.
Law enforcement agencies are expected to maintain a heightened presence on major routes across Mpumalanga throughout Transport Month and beyond as authorities intensify efforts to reduce road accidents and promote responsible driving.
